FROM HOBBYIST TO FULL TIME PHOTOGRAPHER

I walked out of my college graduation with a degree in Psychology but a desire to be a full time photographer (aka I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life). With the approaching decision of applying to graduate school to pursue a career as a counselor, I remember thinking that if there was any time to try to see if photography could work out for me as a career that this was the time for me to take those risks. I was completely self taught in the technical skills of photography, and I had a portfolio that I had been adding to over the years. If there was any time to risk and try something new, my early 20s felt like the right time. 

During that year, I put my head down and dove headfirst into learning all that I could of the elements that I would need to make this work such as vendor networking, experience with posing, marketing and advertising, business management, client management, workflows, gear acquisition, budgeting, building systems for productivity, time management, and well, the list goes on. The truth is that I tried a TON of different directions and avenues for where my business could go, and with all of that effort, I am now in a place where I am a full time photographer. What a dream! 

Here’s the thing - as much as I want to see you hustle and experience the growing pains as a beginner or intermediate photographer, I’d love to share some pain points that I’ve overcome along my journey. I am extremely passionate about education and providing tangible, actionable tools to help you succeed in this business. As someone who went from hobbyist to full time, I’d love to see you through that journey.

In-Person Live Photoshoot with Posing Instruction

This package is a one time session where we will work with a couple that will be modeling, and I will demonstrate how I pose and engage with my clients. These couples will not be professional models, since most clients that you will work with will not be. This couple will be your average, everyday client looking for couples portraits.

I’ve been there! There are so many elements to running a well oiled machine of a photography business that extends to more than taking beautiful photos. Let’s take a look at your business and see how we can create effective systems to help you with lead generation, time management, effective workflows, and more.

FAQs

  • During your introductory and overview call, we will schedule all of your sessions ahead of time. Based on availability, this process can be as quick or as slow paced as you'd like. There is a 8 month limit on redeeming all sessions.

  • You are allowed to record any calls or sessions that we have together for your personal use!

  • Congratulations on your new camera! I am so excited to see how you grow throughout your photography passion. Mentorships are not designed for beginner photographers that are new to shooting in manual settings or new to a camera. I will not be teaching to shoot in manual settings or how to take photos, but rather we will be talking through and working with posing, composition, and other intermediate to advanced elements of photography.

  • You will need to bring your own equipment, which means a camera body, a card to shoot on, and a lens. I only work on full frame cameras, but if you have not upgraded your equipment, whatever you currently are shooting on can work fine. I also only work with RAW files, so you will need a camera that you can shoot in RAW with if you have an editing session planned.

  • Follow up sessions are available for all inclusive and live instruction clients for $150/hr.

  • My presets will not be distributed during an editing session. We will discuss your editing goals and what techniques you need to take to get to that point. I will be demonstrating those techniques on the photos you’ve taken or I will provide some sample images.
